Easy Sign Language, sign language online

19 year old needs job but no experience ?

June 3, 2009

well i need a job and i have never had a job before. for the past 2 years i have been an interpreter for a close family friend and their deaf child so i didn't have much problems with getting that job so i don't really know how to make a resume, i am freaked about doing interviews but ill try (hyperventilated during the last one and passed out so i have bad luck on those) and i have a problem with experience. i am not an experienced driver i ride my bike everywhere.
only things i am good at is cleaning, taking care of kids, and sign language.

so what type of jobs should i go for with that and no real job experience?

can anyone give me sites to how to make a resume?

and also what would be a good site for me to look at for jobs around the northern Chicago land?
I haven't been bugged by it before because i am working for a family friend to help them out. it's not illegal for that. im not advertising myself as a certified interpreter which in that case would be illegal.

well in reality its kind of illegal to be a sign langauge interpreter and be paid for it if you arent certified…..(that is IF you are getting paid for it) i would honestly recommend that you take real sign language classes and become certified. you already have experience in that area so you could probably test out of some of the beginner classes. that way you can get your experience…. BUT you could also do some cleaning jobs like maid jobs at a hospital or a hotel type thing… other than that your options are pretty small…..

edit: thats why i said IF you are getting paid it would be illigal. AND ive also learned in some cases they will not allow friends or family members to sign for the deaf party in public places. ive been in school for the interpreting classes since 06 so i do know the laws and just was commenting to warn you about it, and to simply suggest thta you go into that field. that is all
