I'm thinking about teaching my baby sign language. Besides the communication part I love the idea of having this "secret" language between the 2 of us. Sounds a lil selfish I guess but I don't see anything wrong with creating that lil extra bond. Anyhow, I want to know of other's experiences with teaching their baby sign. Any suggestions, books you could recommend?

I love the 'Signing Time' DVD's. We have one called Baby's First Signs that is really great. My daughter is 4 months old and has only been watching it for about two weeks, however, when I sign, "Want more milk?", she kicks her legs, smiles and reaches for a bottle. I have a dog and cat and when I use those signs, she'll look around until she find them. She hasn't yet done the signs herself, but I know she recognizes what some of them mean. I think signing is a great form of communication before they can speak. Good luck!
