My mom (who is deaf) and I were talking about the signs for very large numbers… but we got stumped after trillion. Million, Billion, and Trillion are just the sign of the initial letter jumping up the left hand; however, Quadrillion and Quintillion begin with the same letter, as do Sextillion and Septillion. Is there even a way to express these numbers with signs? Certainly when you get into numbers such as quattuorvigintillion and quattuortrigintillion, it becomes difficult to spell out properly.

Quadrillion (1 followed by 15 zeroes)
Quintillion (1 followed by 18 zeroes)
Sextillion (1 followed by 21 zeroes)
Septillion (1 followed by 24 zeroes)
Octillion (1 followed by 27 zeroes)
Nonillion (1 followed by 30 zeroes)
Decillion (1 followed by 33 zeroes)
…
Vigintillion (1 followed by 63 zeroes)
…
Googol (1 followed by 100 zeroes) (or 10 duotrigintillion)
…
Centillion (1 followed by 303 zeroes)
…
Googolplex (1 followed by 1 Googol zeroes)

Please do not respond with "When would you ever need to sign these?" as the same could be said for the existence of these words in spoken language.

Salaam aleikum, dudes!
I thought I knew a little bit about the Middle East. Boy, was I wrong. Last week, President Obama set me straight. Here’s what our president taught me during his Middle-Eastern pilgrimage:
There is no more terrorism.
Wow, cool! No more security checks at airports, right? Its unclear which side won, but it’s all over. Obama didn’t mention terrorism a single time in his star-turn speech in Cairo. Only a few “violent extremists” (our own troops?) remain at large.

America tortured.

I thought there was still a debate about that, but I guess not. And no regime in the Middle East tortures anybody, ever. Our bad.

Churches and synagogues are about to open in Saudi Arabia. Since “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance” and there are “over 1,200 mosques within our borders,” I can’t wait for the first Baptist hymn-sing in Riyadh. Sign me up!

Behind closed doors with Saudi King Abdullah, our president must’ve mentioned the many hundreds of churches and synagogues that thrived on the Arabian Peninsula during the Prophet’s lifetime. Muslims zealots destroyed them. Time to get the bin Laden family’s construction firm on the job re-building!

And stoning converts who leave Islam to death is a no-no, right?
Women can dress any way they want in Saudi Arabia. Just my analysis, based on Obama’s insistence that Islam recognizes “the dignity of all human beings” and that Muslim women must be free to make their own decisions about what to wear. Surely, fashion choices extend to Mecca and Medina, not just Detroit and Paris?

“Islam has always been a part of America’s story.” Guess the Founding Fathers missed that one. But I’m assured that George Washington turned to his mullah in the dark days at Valley Forge, that Daniel Boone read the Koran around the campfire, and that al Qaeda stood by us at the Alamo.

Yeah, there was that misunderstanding with the Muslim Barbary Pirates, when they killed, kidnapped and enslaved American citizens for years – but who’s perfect?

There are “nearly seven million American Muslims.” Who knew? We all thought there were three or four million, max. Is this a preview of the predetermined results of our upcoming census? [Note to editor: Confirm numbers with ACORN.]

“It was not violence that won full and equal rights” for black Americans. So much for the Civil War and my ancestor, who volunteered to wear Union blue and paid for it with his life. I thought a half-million Americans died fighting to end slavery. Silly me. Still, it was brave of our president to highlight slavery’s “lash of the whip” in his speech, since his own ancestors, as Muslims along Africa’s Swahili Coast, would have been complicit – if not actively engaged – in enslaving their fellow black Africans for Arab masters. As a self-proclaimed “student of history,” Obama surely knows that.

Holocaust, schmolocaust.

Aren’t those pesky Jews ever going to go away? Yes, denying the Holocaust is “hateful.” But let’s get a grip. Palestinians “endure . . . daily humiliations.” Their lot’s “intolerable.” Israel “devastates Palestinian families.” No wonder our president shunned wicked Israel during his trip – sending a clear, if unspoken, message that Jews are now fair game.

“America’s strong bonds with Israel are . . . unbreakable.” Yup. And they’re issued by Chrysler.

Hamas is a legitimate, recognized voice of the Palestinians. Rocket attacks against civilians, suicide bombings and kidnappings really work.

Iran can have nukes.

Our president’s acceptance of “peaceful nuclear power” for Tehran was coded language for “no pre-emptive military action.”

Jordan doesn’t matter.

So much for one Arab country’s attempts at human decency. If you want attention from our president, you’ve got to be a desert gangbanger.

My wife wondered why Obama didn’t make his speech in Indonesia, the world’s most-populous Muslim state, where he would’ve been welcomed proudly as a home-boy. Obama just reinforced the stereotype that Muslim equals Arab.

Democracy isn’t for everybody.

We’re done peddling that particular drug.

Of course, our president didn’t mention al Qaeda’s catastrophic defeat in Iraq, where millions of Sunni Arabs rejected the terror organization. Iraq was Bush’s war, so it’s all bad.

And forget junk like modern medicine, telecommunications or even the internal combustion engine. Islam’s been the source of real progress. Like “calligraphy.” Medieval Islam’s ballyhooed contributions actually were due to Greek-speaking Christians (including slaves) employed as court officials, to Armenian architects and Jewish physicians. But, yeah, Arabs had really good penmanship.

Our president’s breakthrough message to the Muslim world was that America overthrew democratic regimes, slavery was our history’s central feature, and we invaded people on a whim – but we’re sorry now.

His crowd-pleasing speech sanitized and romanticized Islam, letting the disgruntled popu

raising the minimum daily wage would do much to create a new level of equivalency, the JVP needs to consider the root cause of their struggle and realize that overnight change is not possible for any nation but a spirit of cooperation with government instead of making a stance against government and utilizing different methodology than that in the past to gain further inclusion. Instead of being a polarizing force consider a change of spectrum from red to green/yellow.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Colouring_pencils.jpg
If you don't believe that I am looking at the from your perspective, you are wrong. But it is also important that you try and see it from my perspective which is that we give additional exposure and opportunities to students in a manner where the greatest numbers have the most opportunity to find a medium instead of polarities. We need to recruit better jobs for more people and it must be in an inclusive manner-this is another reason that I feel the most crucial development of this 30+ year war is English and IT. The lack of educational will as well as resources must be overcome. There is no point in putting resources into people that don't have the educational will. That will has to extend perspective and things like culture clash over teaching philosophies must end. Many of the students in school are in their 30's and it is appropriate to expect a higher level of maturity from grown adults. I do not consider 40 year olds as youth. I read an article today of a group that was developing a blood suction cup to ward infections but they cannot source the items they need. Without appearing completely capitalistic I would still want to know is it cheaper to buy it assembled or to fabricate at home with purchased components. There are other things like the cost/benefit ratio of a retread to the manufacture of a new tire. I see a big gap between production and management in Sri Lanka where people can work on production lines or do front or back office management but they cannot source the mechanism of manufacture. There are some of you who care about the historical, cultural and anthropological significance of our island and others that don't give a damn and there is such a level of impunity that prior to talking to the world you need to develop a new social contract. There is no skipping the steps and when it is known that doctors won't treat their own citizens for political reasons, that multilingualism is being used as a method of segregation and isolation because of political philosophies, that religion has finally reached a level of tolerance and that we are less busy or inclined to act out violently on each other for political differences an arch develops of where we need progress and where we have shown progress.
I felt that as most of these articles are there was a load of political innuendo that did not eminate from the JVP but the UNP. For it was very clear from past articles that the Ranil/Mahinda group opportunity was exactly that for 2 minutes later it was back to the same old ploys by the Ranil UNP. This total avarice to having a link language to me is a sign that there are major issues of inequality that are not being addressed for whether you are in a tourist market, an educational forum, a work group or many other instances. I believe that you are doing very well for being 3 weeks out of a 30+ year war but before you go running this way or that you must reflect on what you must do as individuals and a society first to maintain peace, second to overcome the levels of gamesmanship that you have accepted upon yourselves, third to find a common ground and in Sri Lanka that is based on you being Sri Lankans. You must have the maturity to admit that if you rather live elsewhere than Sri Lanka that government has never stopped you from departing and you must also admit that if you want to stay on the island that you have to follow the laws of the island. Our geographical form makes us different from continental masses and island lifestyle is in many ways dictated by that. You must also know that it is not okay to go to another place and cause agitation there and those of you that have and continue to do so are going to be found unwelcome in many places. You are like a group that was held behind at classes as what you are showing to the world this year everyone else saw last year and the year before – there is no charm in it. Many in the world are wondering if we know what month we are in by the kind of disaster, event or mass societal undoing that takes place. Without thinking about remaking society on Sri Lanka let us concentrate on being better, more honest and thankful people. I know that every day I thank God that you peoples at home are alive and I do mean ALL of you and not just ones in IDP camps. I thank God that our spiritual expression has not gone so out of whack that we cannot coexist, I am concerned that you are n
(I can't translate it to you coz I'm not sure with the meaning..we speak a different language) Lastly, He told me to 'go to hell, red' then I said (joking) 'where's hell?' then he replied he doesn't know. Again, I thought he was being silly. So he didn't reply anymore. I signed in on my Yahoo Messenger then I saw him online. I sent him a message 'go to hell! =))=))' ( =)) means laughing) then he replied '..' then I asked what? then he replied 3 periods again then he told me go to hell again. I asked him 2 times already If he's mad at me. I don't like him but I just can't move on on my life knowing that someone's mad at me. So continuing about last night, he went offline, i sent him the numbers incase that was the reason he got mad at me, then this afternoon, he's online again, I im-ed him if he got the numbers last night, he didn't reply then he switched offline/invisible. I gave options for myself on what to do, 1st: Move on. Don't mind him. He's gay. Forget him. Remember what he said. Don't talk to him anymore at school or in any places. 2nd: Talk to him the problem even if he doesn't reply any word at all. Annoy him in IM's 'till he reply. Make him a scandal. I don't think I could do the 2nd option but I asked my cousin what to do, she told option no.1 would be fine. So, I'm doing it now. Please help me!
