You could have a conversation just using fingerspelling but this requires a lot of concentration by the deaf person and this can be very tiring for them. Some deaf people also have a lower level of language so correctly spelling words or understanding what is being spelt can be difficult and frustraiting. If you're interested in learning the language you could see if there is a local deaf club and try picking up basic signs to make your conversations that bit easier!
