Obscene language laws are terribly outdated. How will we progress as a society if we fear words? There are many more things to fear besides words: our president and his administration, terrorism (which Bush is provoking, not stopping), disease, poverty, another economic depression, etc. Curse words and other obscene language are made from the same 26 letters of the alphabet as any other words. In Oklahoma at the DMV, I saw a sign that said you could be fined for using obscene language in front of women or children. I forgot how much the fine was though. It was up to a few hundred dollars I think. Some women I know use more obscene language than any men! I understand someone getting in trouble for verbal harassment if it was directed to someone, but what if someone stubs their toe and says the almighty powerful F word?! Does it hurt anyone? Cursing (or cussing, whatever you want to call it) has no victims. Nobody is hurt.
A performer should also never be arrested for using obscene language in their act. Police have more important things to do. It's a waste of time for them.

any thing that offends or injures body or feeling of any one needs to be discouraged. obscene language may hurt many mentally and hence needs to be discouraged. any language among friends and close circle may be ok but in large gathering consisting of strangers one must be careful about words. imposing fine is a method to discouage bad behaviour and hence it is ok.
