I took my 12 year old sister to the mall yesterday for her birthday. We stopped at Ben & Jerry's for a shake. When we got there the first time, there was a sign on the counter that read "be back in 5 min." We waited 5 min. and no one came, so we left, and came back.
When we returned, a young girl was sitting on the counter (where things are MADE), and asked (from that spot) if she could help us. She didn't even get up and come to the counter where we were standing.
While ringing up our order, she made a mistake and commented "oh shit!" In front of my 12 year old sister and other kids nearby. She didn't think anything of this.
When did service get so crappy, and where are these kids getting this language from?! I am only 22, and yes, I do swear, but NOT at work and NOT in front of kids!
I'm sure that my sister hears worse at school, but C'mon, what kind of example is that setting? Am I stupid to be offended?

I would have been as offended as you; there is no excuse for that kind of service. Here is the link to Ben & Jerry’s corporate offices. I would copy the question you asked to them and see what they have to say about it.
