I'm a starter web designer with experience in dreaweaver/photoshop, but want to create more Interactive sites. Like with Forms, Sign-Ins, Databases, Scrolling pictures, ect. Where do I even start?

After I "graduated" from Dreamweaver and Photoshop the next reasonable step was Flash which uses Action Script as its object oriented scripting language.
I am barely scratching the surface with this powerful scripting code but also informed that it is very similar to JAVA. Flash can make nice animations and such but the Action Script "instructs" the Flash movies/animations on what to do with these objects.(Action Script now in version 3 in the Adobe/Macromedia CS3 package)
I have done a little research into the Forms and Databases issue with Flash and there appears to be very good support in handling these items within Action Script combined with basic HTML and CSS.
Then back to the XML issue: Knowledge in XML will help "pull" all of this together as we use these codes to inform parts of our scripted projects on what to do IF or WHEN another action is triggered.
In short, there is no real "best of the best" here. What you need to research and learn all depends on where you wish to go with your creations.
A good start might be to look into the Flash CS3 Bible. Can be found at a Borders near you at around $50 but a GREAT investment for a beginner like I was six months ago.
I decided to learn Dreamweaver/HTML and Flash/Action Script in order to save myself thousands in designing my own photography display website. You can view the progress of my studies and research by checking out my site at: http://www.inklingfoto.com
