Symbols as a Universal Language?

March 30, 2009

Do symbols still have meaning or relevance in today's world?

Are they still recognized as being a universal form of language...do they still hold power?

Of course there are certain 'signs' from advertisers that most ppl in the world recognizes, but I'm thinking of real symbols...

....?

True symbols are archetypal.. They speak to the deeper levels of consciousness, bypassing, for the most part, the more superficial ego based levels, including the "logical" mind portion. They are quite potent in their effect upon your "way of being" and behaviors.

Among other things, because of their power, "the powers that be" attempt to use them for their propaganda and manipulations–to move you in the direction of their choice. Unless a person is quite "conscious" and understands what's going on, the symbols often have the desired effect.

People will kill to "uphold the sanctity" of their "beloved" symbols–the flag, those associated with their "religion", etc. Just as some people will respond aggressively to mere words spoken, many more will so act if "mere" symbols , important to them, are "attacked." One can only wonder :) ))
