What is the difference between Signed English & American Sign Language? Are the signs the same? Can someone who signs ASL understand SE?

The big difference between SEE(signed exact english) and ASL is the word order used. ASL has its own word order and syntax and varies greatly from the word order used in english. If they know English they should get the idea but if they are signing back in ASL the person signing SEE will more than likely not understand as easily.

It really depends upon the person, and i would ask the Deaf person if they are OK with you signing in English and not ASL instead of just jumping in with SEE.
