My son wanted to talk in the worst way. He was trying desperately to mimic sounds from 5 months on. He finally said his first complete word at 7 months. It was cookie. His second complete words were Hey, you!! On his first birthday he said, "Hey, its my bird day.
Mom, Pop, etc. came later. I guess food and getting people's attention were a priority for him.
He did speak clearly and in complete sentences very early. But he was also surrounded constantly by grandparents, great-parents, aunts, uncles, etc. They talked to him 16 hours a day! As a result, language came early. They did the same with me as a baby. I spoke very early too.
I wish I could have kept him quiet for a year longer. The kid never shut up! Now he's 25 and on his 4th tour of Afghanistan. He's in communications. Very appropriate! LOL
